The corner table always held the clock,
the tiny figurine and the pepper pot
a story for each entwined in their composition
how they came to be together another person’s vision
but where had it gone as I glanced over to check the time
dust had collected around the base leaving a last standing sign
for a moment I felt quite sad at such an ordinary thing
I was missing it’s history and the function it brings
something that plays such a small part in a day
often without realising has a bigger role to play
and can be missed more than words can say
