A pile of dishes by the kitchen sink
no energy to wash them I’m trying to think
trying to remember, trying to see
the last time we were intimate the last time we were happy
you have your life with its crazy parts
I have mine filled with travel and conceptual art
but together when we meet there’s always the us
extreme fun, lots of loving and minimum fuss
we need our separation for our egos to work
but just recently not seeing you really hurts
I’ve missed you more than I ever thought could happen
my mind constantly side tracked to when we meet again
I can’t go on wondering if things will change
if you are free spontaneously, or if plans can be rearranged
so let’s commit or put a framework to our future in place
so my heart stops it’s painful yearning and I more regularly kiss your face
